We bought EE bonds for our kids in 1994 and they were supposed to mature in 12 years (previously we had EE's which matured in 8 years, and we turned some in at full face value then, I think?)We kept the 1994's until now, well after 2006 and the bank…

I would not cash in those bonds. Once your bonds from 1994 up until april of 1995 hit face value, they will earn a fixed rate of 4% anually. The bonds issued after April of 1995 will have a variable rate and will change every 6 months. Keep the olde…

Maturity Date confusion?

We bought EE bonds for our kids in 1994 and they were supposed to mature in 12 years (previously we had EE's which matured in 8 years, and we turned some in at full face value then, I think?)We kept the 1994's until now, well after 2006 and the bank says they mature to face value in 2024. I realize they earn interest for 30 years if you don't redeem them, but I thought the face value was met in 12 yrs? Can someone shed light on this please.

Exchanging EE Bonds for I Bonds

I have a number of EE bonds issued between 1994 and 1996 that are close to the face value of the bond. Interest rates on these bonds are now between 1.5% and 1.9%. By plan is to cash in these bonds and buy current I bonds that currently paying 3.36%. Can somebody provide me some insight regarding what I plan to do? Thanks. Ralph

Misplaced EE Bonds

Is there any way to recover bonds that have been thrown out or destroyed? I went through a very nasty divroce and my ex destroyed most of my filing cabinet. There were a lot of series EE bonds in there that my grandmother had given to my children. Is there any way of tracking them through SS #'s or are they just lost money?
